The Challenge
Centrum required a digital solution that served two equally important user groups:
- UHNI Clients seeking clarity, transparency and actionable insights
- Relationship Managers (RMs) who needed speed, data precision and operational efficiency
The core challenges included:
- Delivering a consolidated, single-view wealth dashboard across asset classes
- Incorporating both Centrum-managed and held-away assets
- Presenting detailed analytics that support decision-making
- Enabling RMs to rapidly switch between clients and access relevant portfolio data in seconds
- Overcoming backend performance limitations
A major technical constraint was the performance of MILES, which was being used by Centrum. MILES was slow in computing portfolio data and occasionally produced inaccurate percentage calculations thereby resulting in delays when loading portfolio views.
The platform needed to feel instantaneous but the underlying system wasn’t built for that experience.

Rather than merely designing a front-end layer, Flooid re-engineered the digital experience from the ground up.

We restructured the client homepage into a real-time financial command centre, offering:

While client experience was critical, RM efficiency became a defining success factor. We designed the system so Relationship Managers could:

- Access summarised portfolio snapshots instantly
- Retrieve key performance metrics without latency
The workflow reduced cognitive load and improved productivity during client conversations.
Solving Backend Performance: The Middleware Layer
To address the MILES performance bottleneck, Flooid engineered a custom middle layer between MILES and the frontend platform.
This middleware:
- Extracted raw transaction data from MILES
- Performed independent calculation logic
- Corrected inconsistencies in percentage computations
- Generated optimised, ready-to-display data sets

Processing times reduced from several minutes to just seconds. This architectural shift dramatically improved responsiveness and data reliability, transforming user confidence in the system.
